CHEER recently worked on several Reservations in the Billings Area (Montana and Wyoming) to prevent, manage, and treat drug use in the perinatal period.
Blackfeet
In 2015-2016, we worked on the Blackfeet Reservation, in combination with the Rocky Mountain Tribal Epidemiology Center and funded by the Montana Health Care Foundation. We held a conference in June 2016 on Blackfeet, to generate feedback and ideas around opioid prevention on Blackfeet. The full conference report includes feedback from regional and local organizations.

In 2017, this funding was renewed. CHEER facilitates the Opioid Prevention Task Force and works with the tribe, the Indian Health Service hospital, Well Mothers and Babies, and the community-based Silent Warriors with a goal of establishing a Medication Assisted Treatment Program on the Reservation.
